About us

Biodiversity all in one place

Biodiv exists to help organisations bring their biodiversity work together in one platform – from field surveys and analysis to reports, calculations and monitoring over time.

The Biodiv team

Why?

Our driving force is getting companies and organisations to internalise nature in their decisions. Nature is complex. But treating nature as too complex to quantify has not been helpful.

Until now, business as usual has meant that nature has had no place in the decisions that shape society. Nature has become an externality – and as a result, the loss of nature now poses major risks to our societies and economies.

Biodiv was born from our conviction that this has to change. Our aim is for far more companies and organisations to be able to work systematically with biodiversity – from the field to decisions and reporting.

The people behind Biodiv

What gets measured gets managed / Peter Drucker

We believe nature will become as natural a part of project analysis as finance, climate and social impact. But for that to happen, we need tools that are clear, accessible and that hold the entire workflow together.

We are

seven entrepreneurs who started Biodiv when we realised there was no efficient way to bring together and drive biodiversity work from field survey to finished documentation.

Our solution

is Biodiv – a platform that brings together surveying, processing, calculation and monitoring of biodiversity in Nordic nature.

Our vision

is to enable all kinds of organisations to make nature-smart decisions – for business and for society.

We are based

in Umeå, Sweden, but work across the Nordics. We believe in collaboration and transparency, and that digitalisation is key to scaling up work for nature.

Our background

lies in a unique combination of ecology, strategy, data science, ecological restoration and graphic design. That is what our team is built on.

Our experience

adds up to 100 years across ecological consulting, digital start-ups, the forestry sector, academia, municipal planning and national nature conservation.

"Biodiv gave us a whole new level of understanding of our impact on nature – and a way to communicate it to others."
